Transparently log in students from your LMS into a Serendipify.Me group
SerendipifyMe uses LTI to integrate with your learning management system (LMS).
We do not produce content or update your LMS data such as student grades.
All we do is accept LMS authenticated users transparently into our systems with their original LMS credentials

Concepts and Setup
LMS System
This is your school's Learning Management System.
In here, your students are already authenticated, and have access to your published content,
such as direct links to Serendipify.Me groups.
Example LMS systems: Canvas, Brightspace, etc.,...
Serendipify.Me Group
This is where the participants use their matching criteria to discover collaboration candidates and
partnership opportunities.
Normally users would have to log in, but with a LMS integration via the LTI, access to the group is transparent.
LTI Integration
This is the transparent authorization protocol that gives LMS users access to their configured Serendipify.Me group.
LTI is a variation of a Single Sign On, like LinkedIn/Facebook/.. or other social networks providers.
LTI - Enabled - Group
This Serendipify.Me matching group is configured to allow transparent login from a specific link in the LMS.
In the LMS, you have to have configured an external Learning Tool with the proper key/secret pair linked to this group
Multiple LTI Groups
For every Serendipify.Me LTI-enabled-group, you need to define a separate LMS External Learning Tool.
Then, use the specific Learning Tool as the Serendipify.Me group link that you publish in the LMS for your students.
LTI Launch Configuration
This is the end point that needs to be configured in every External Learning Tool.
For Serendipify.Me, it is always: https://Serendipify.Me/login/lti/config.xml
.
LTI Key/Secret
These are used to uniquely link an LMS external "Learning Tool" to a Serendipify.Me matching Group.
When you create an LTI-enabled group, you receive an email with the values you selected/generated for these.
External Learning Tool
Your LMS allows you to define transparent integration with external learning tools, such as Serendipify.Me.
In this configuration, you need tell LMS to send the lis_person_name_full and lis_person_contact_email_primary parameters.
Also, choose to open the external tool link into a new window.
How to set up an integrated matching instance:
IMPORTANT: For every group, you will have to configure two components: a Serendipify.Me group and the corresponding LMS External Tool configuration.

We set a group named demo_lti_eduappcenter to be used for testing your LMS integration.
Take the launch configuration from above (https://Serendipify.Me/login/lti/config.xml ).
Use as (key/secret): (5a8ebfc3a2d5fb4f21da9bc13402cd2c / d051657a12d56ed288ddd42310a49d18)
If you can log into the group demo_lti_eduappcenter transparently, with your LMS credentials, your test was a success
